Dreaded Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF) chief Harminder Singh Mintoo - who was freed from the high security Nabha Jail in Punjab by 10 armed men on Sunday morning – was the member of Babbar Khalsa International (BKI).
In 2009, he left Wadhawa Singh-led Babbar Khalsa International and revived Khalistan Liberation Force (KLF).
He used to operate from Thailand before he was arrested by Punjab police from Delhi's IGI airport in 2014. He was arrested while he was on his way back from Thailand.
Mintoo was frequent to Pakistan and there are reports that he had a backing of Pakistan’s ISI.
He was involved in 10 terror-related cases, including the 2008 attack on Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh and 2010 recovery of explosives at Halwara Air Force station near Ludhiana.
