Exquisite silk saris that will transform you into a diva and chic western wear that promises a stylish makeover - Weaves, the Indian handloom and textile exhibition-cum-sale going on at Sri Mulam Club, has a vast variety of ethnic and exotic designer pieces in store for you. What awaits you their is a fascinating palette of colours and textures from all parts of the country. 

You will find a range of dainty fabrics made more adorable with handwork. The Gopika collection has hand painted gopikas in different postures. Coming in different handloom material it also carries some traditional designs and motifs.

Woven and painted by the artisans in Hyderabad, each piece requires more than five hours work to complete.

Another attraction of the exhibition is an array of gorgeous blouse material adorned with thread and stone work. Most of the pieces can go with a range of colours and will be an asset to your wardrobe. Elegant kurtis and fine salwar suits from Delhi and Mumbai are also displayed. 

The expo showcases rich kanjeevarams, printed crepes, dharmavarams, uppadas, pochampallys, narayanpets, gadwals, Banaras brocades, jamdanis and jamawars which are the mulberry silk specials and tusser, eri, muga and kosa which are the non-mulberry or wild silk. The famous cottons from Coimbatore, Chettinad, Gadwal, Pochampally, Venkatgiri, Mangalgiri, Chanderi, Maheswari, Kota Doria and Sambalpuri make excellant options for both formal and casual wear. The tie and dye, bandhej, block nad dabu, batik, kalamkari, kantha, kutch, kasuti and kashida are some of the finest varities in print and embroideries.

The exhibition will wind up on August 15. Walk in anytime between 10 am to 9 pm.
