Kolkata: West Bengal is on the edge after political violence spills out of control with the deaths of seven Trinamool workers. Home Minister P Chidambaram has summoned West Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya and Governor MK Narayanan to Delhi.

Narayanan is rushing to the capital to brief Chidambaram, as political violence is spilling out of control in the state leaving 11 people dead in the last 48 hours.

The battle between the ruling Left Front and the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal has intensified.

On Thursday, armed CPI-M goons allegedly gunned down seven Trinamool supporters, including two women. The news filtered in even as Trinamool congress paraded three slain party workers, killed in Burdwan district in the last 48 hours.

“CPM is killing our workers. Can't let this happen anymore. We are all angry and sad but we must protest peacefully,” said Trinamool Congress leader Mamata Banerjee.

In New Delhi, Union Home Minister P Chidambaram ordered Bengal Chief Minister Buddhadeb Bhattacharya to postpone all appointments and rush to Delhi.

An embattled CPI-M also rallied its student wing members in the heart of the city.

“TMC has bought the bodies of Congress workers to parade them,” said Biman bose.

With political violence spilling out of control TMC supremo has appealed for calm but will that stop this cycle of violence.

Because the battle lines are drawn and no one is willing to concede an inch few months before the assembly elections, the stakes are simply too high.
