Kolkata: A high school student in West Bengal's Murshidabad district was caught with a gun and bullets which he had brought purportedly to kill the principal who had earlier scolded him.
The student studying in Gangadas Vidyapith in Domkal, some 200 km away from Kolkata, took out a home-made pistol from his bag and pointed at the principal who had scolded him a day earlier for bringing a mobile phone to the school.
Realising that the gun was not loaded, the boy's classmates surrounded him and later tied him with a rope till the police arrived.
"A country-made pistol and five bullets have been recovered from the boy who is still a minor. We are looking into the matter as to how and from where he got the gun," sub-divisional police officer (Domkal) Debarshi Roy said.
The boy has been detained by the police.
