Watch: A tribute to Bihar's Mountain Man Dashrath Manjhi
Manjhi single-handedly cut more than 300 feet of mountain to make a road from his village Gehlour to the next hamlet using just a hammer, chisel and crowbar.

Dashrath Manjhi, a poor agricultural labourer, in Bihar's Gaya district literally moved a mountain for his wife and made life easy for his fellow villagers in Atri block's Gehlour. Manjhi single-handedly cut more than 300 feet of mountain to make a road from his village Gehlour to the next hamlet using just a hammer, chisel and crowbar.

The Herculean task took him almost 22 years. Dubbed a madman by his fellow villagers, Manjhi continued undaunted by the almost insurmountable task and showed that a single can also achieve the almost impossible. The road carved by Manjhi is almost 360 feet long and 30 feet wide.

The village at the other side of the mountain Wazirganj, which was much more developed with doctors, jobs and a school was now only five kilometres away. People from 60 villages in Atri now use his road.

Manjhi, who never got any respect when he was alive, is now revered as a saint and is now affectionately called 'Baba'.

Here's a video by Milaap paying tribute to Manjhi:
