Washing machines for Government homes

The cost of each washing machine would be Rs 3.5 lakh.Under the Social Welfare Department, the State government runs seven Service Homes and 27 children’s homes accommodating widows neglected by their families and children from poor families.  At present, the children are washing clothes on their own. In order to ensure that these kids get more time to study, the CM has ordered provision of quality washing machines such as the ones used in factories and hospitals, to these homes.  The CM has already ordered provision of uniforms, books, educational equipment, bicycles, laptops and incentives to students free of cost, an official release said. first published:August 31, 2012, 07:46 ISTlast updated:August 31, 2012, 07:46 IST
