VELLORE: Washermen worshipped the washing stone that they use for washing clothes and celebrated Mayilaru and Pongal near Vellore on Sunday. Over 30 washermen families reside at Ammanguttai near Salavanpettai here. On Sunday, they decorated the washing stone and cooked pongal. The participants said they celebrate the festival every Mayilaru to thank the objects that they use for cleaning clothes.Washermen Association president Devan, Secretary Mani and ex-president Moorthy were present.
