Over a century-old temple of Goddess Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari Visakhapatnam, Andhra is quite popular. But do you know in this temple the goddess is decorated with a golden saree?
According to reports, in the temple, on the last Friday of the month of Shravan, a special pooja for the Goddess started at midnight. Nukaraju, the administrator of the temple, says that the golden saree for the goddess is around 5 kg. The priests of the temple said that a special panchamrutha abhishekam was performed for the goddess before she was dressed in a gold saree.
He also said that in the presence of Vedic scholars, a special puja was performed scientifically with water mixed with turmeric, saffron, milk, and spices. He said that after the special pujas of the goddess, the devotees have been given darshan of the goddess.
As it was last Friday, Ammavari Kumkuma puja was performed with 300 women. The women say that they are very lucky to participate in the Ammavari Kumkuma Puja program of goddess Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari. As it was the fourth Friday, a large number of women came and visited Amma.
Every year in the month of Shravana, Amma appears in a different form on one Friday. This year, on the fourth Friday, she appeared dressed in a gold saree. Every Friday, more than 300 women come and perform the Ammavari Kumkuma puja of Kanyaka Parameshwari. Lalita chants Sahasranama and performs this vrata. After the darshan of the goddess, the temple officials distribute the Prasad to the devotees.
Every year on Shravana Friday, a special pooja is performed here for the goddess.
Organisers shared that on the fourth week of Shravan Friday, they will auction silk sarees decorated for Amma. The women who come for the Ammavari Kumkuma Puja auction the saree and take it home. As it is believed, this saree worn by the goddess brings good luck and wealth to the house.
Earlier, the temple of Goddess Vasavi Kanyaka Parameswari had been decorated with currency notes and gold. The administrators have adorned the goddess with money and gold ornaments worth Rs 8 crore for Navratri.
To add to the splendour, it is not just the goddess that is adorned in this luxury. The entire temple is decorated in currency notes. Bundles can be hanging on the trees and ceiling.
