PARADIP: Tension prevailed at the proposed Posco site near Dhinkia for the third consecutive day following scuffle between workers of a construction agency and anti-Posco activists over laying of a road leading to the proposed Posco site. Following the Monday scuffle, when the workers allegedly attacked the villagers, the latter had dug up the road in retaliation. Posco Pratirodha Sangram Samiti (PPSS) alleged that the district administration was using force to expedite the Posco work in Dhinkia panchayat.While PPSS activists lead by Abhay Sahu conducted a meeting to protest the brutal attack, the Kujang police reportedly arrested a woman who had gone to lodge an FIR against the contract agency. Satybati Swain of Gobindpur village and Anupama Sharma of Dhinkia have lodged an FIR against the contract agency Paradip Parivahan with Kujang police station for attacking their relatives at the construction site.In a shocking turn of event, the police arrested Swain and produced her in the court. DSP S Devdatta Singh, however, clarified that the woman had a non-bailable warrant pending against her. The police have also received complaints from the contract agency regarding bombs being hurled at the workers, he added.However, there was no action at the troubled site with neither the villagers nor the contract agency workers turning up on Wednesday. Meanwhile, the PPSS has decided to intensify their stir against any construction.
