Red Bull's Sebastian Vettel led from start to finish and clinched his 11th win of the season.

Greater Noida: Sebastian Vettel cruised to his 11th win of the season by storming to victory in the inaugural Formula One Indian Grand Prix, at the Buddh International Circuit (BIC) on Sunday.

Vettel led from start to finish and was followed to the finish line by McLaren's Jenson Button, who finished second ahead of Ferrari's Fernando Alonso, as the Spaniard survived a late charge from Red Bull's second driver Mark Webber.

Cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar had the privilege of waving the chequered flag on the historic occasion.

Vettel who registered a time of 1:30:35.002 also had the fastest lap of the race to his name.

Mercedes drivers Michael Schumacher and Nico Rosberg finished fifth and sixth respectively, while Lewis Hamilton who crashed against Felipe Massa yet again, finished seventh.

Hamilton was penalised three places on the starting lineup after ignoring yellow safety flags in Friday's practice session.

There was good news for home fans as Force India's Adrian Sutil got two points for Force India with his ninth place finish.

Earlier on Saturday, Vettel grabbed his 13th pole of the season at the BIC to equal the record held by Alain Prost and the late Aryton Senna.

It was also a record for Red Bull who claimed their 16th pole in 2011, which is the maximum in a season for any team.
