TIRUCHY: The Vice-Chancellor of Anna University, Tiruchy, P Devadas Manoharan has been accused of delaying granting affiliation to newly started PG courses in self-financing private engineering colleges here.It snowballed into a major issue on Monday with the members of Self-Financing Private Engineering Colleges Association protesting in front of the VC’s office, demanding steps for granting affiliation.  However, the univeristy denied that they had anything to do with the affiliation process and the matter should bedealt between the colleges and TANCA.On Monday, the correspondents, principals and directors from 11 private engineering colleges that affiliated to the Anna University of Technology-Tiruchy [AUTT), protested against the VC of AUTT, for not sending the list to the Tamil Nadu Common Admissions (TANCA for affiliation of the new courses. This had already been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education [AICTE), the college heads said.MS Karthikeyan, secretary to the VC, said there was no link between graning affiliationa and the university. Moreover,only six courses had been left out from the PG programme counselling conducted by the TANCA.He pointed out that there was no such problem during UG counselling and no one approached the university for that which meant that it had no role in it.The issue should be dealt between the colleges and TANCA, he emphasised and dened that the university had a role in the process. TANCA had asked us about the six courses in question and the university had replied that they were pending affiliation, he added.
