UPSC announces civil services exam results, four of top five are girls

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results of its civil services exam with four position in the top five being bagged by girls. Ira Singhal bagged the first rank followed by Renu Raj, Nidhi Gupta, Vandana Rao and Suharsha Bhagat.

A total of 1236 candidates have successfully cleared the exam. The merit list is based on the results of the written part of the civil services examination conducted in December 2014 and the interviews of personality test held in April-June, 2015. The results can be accessed on UPSC's website www.upsc.gov.in.

It is for the first time that the Commission declared the final results within four days of the closing date of the personality tests or interviews. About 9 lakh candidates had applied for the exams.

The examination is conducted annually by the UPSC to select officers for Indian Administrative Service (IAS), Indian Foreign Service (IFS) and Indian Police Service (IPS) among others. The examination is conducted in three stages-preliminary, mains and interviews.
