Almost three months after the mob lynching of a Muslim man, Mohammad Akhlaq, in Uttar Pradesh's Dadri over rumours that he had stored beef, a chargesheet has been filed by the UP Police.
The UP police filed a chargesheet against 15 persons. One suspect is a juvenile who will be tried before the Juvenile Justice Board. According to the chargesheet, Akhlaq's daughter's statement is the key witness in the case. The chargesheet has no mention of beef, said sources.
On September 28, Mohammad Akhlaq, 52, was dragged out of his home and beaten to death by a mob after announcements were made at a local temple that a calf had been killed. Akhlaq's son Danish was also beaten and had to undergo multiple surgeries.
