MADURAI: MDMK leader Vaiko today urged all political parties and people of Tamil Nadu to unite on the Mullaiperiyar dam issue as it was the livelihood of crores of people in the South of the state.Speaking to reporters here, Vaiko, on a day's fast with about 1500 people to condemn Kerala and the Centre for 'betraying' the state's interests, said "We should plan for a massive economic sanction against kerala and stop all food and other items to that state for establishing our right on the Dam.Our agitation is not against the People of Kerala, but Congress and the central government."He also said Kerala would not be able to give water to Tamil Nadu if the proposed new dam came up, even if it wanted to.He alleged the Kerala government was spreading falsehood on the dam strength. Tamil Nadu had already lost irrigation in two lakh acres and Rs.4320-Crore revenue in the last 35 years as the dam level was brought down from 152 feet to 136 feet, he said.
