A doctor was arrested on Monday for killing a moneylender after injecting sedatives, as he was unable to clear his debts. The incident took place last year at Andhra Pradesh’s Eluru district when the accused allegedly administered sedative injections on a man named Malleswara Rao.
The accused doctor has been identified as Kovvuri Bhanusunder, a resident of Chodimella village. When he injected the sedatives on Rao, he lost consciousness following which the doctor stole his golden ornaments and also some cash.
However, due to the negative impact of the injection the victim suffered with severe ill health and died.
Bhanusunder completed his MBBS in Philippines and was working as a doctor in a private hospital in the city. He got addicted to online betting and started borrowing money.
Upon realising that there was no way to clear his debts, he administered sedative injections on one of his money lenders.
In a similar manner, the accused had also injected sedatives on two more people named, Hima Teja and Royal Venkat.
However, after Teja lost consciousness, the accused admitted him to a hospital at Vijayawada and kept collecting more money from the family members by saying that it was needed for hospital expenses.
Following his arrest, the police also seized sedatives and injections from him.
