Uma Bharti Says Naseeruddin Shah’s Bulandshahr Remark Part of a 'Bigger Conspiracy'
Actor Naseeruddin Shah became the centre of a heated debate after he said the death of a cow was given importance over the killing of a policeman in the Bulandshahr violence.

New Delhi: The controversy over actor Naseeruddin Shah’s comment on Bulandshahr Violence has triggered a volley of angry reactions from the right-wing groups, with many branding him a “traitor" and “anti-national".

The latest to join the clamour are Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and Union minister Uma Bharti.

Bharti claimed that Shah’s remarks are part of a bigger conspiracy and that such forces will soon be taught a strong lesson. “There is a conspiracy going on in the country right now and Naseeruddin Shah’s remarks are part of the same conspiracy. Some people are playing divisive politics and we will give them a befitting reply soon," she said.

“To say you feel scared in the country you live is not right. Naseeruddin Shah should go where he does not feel scared," Khattar said.

Shah became the centre of a heated debate over his remarks in reference to the killing of a policeman in Bulandshahr earlier this month. He said the death of a cow was being given importance over the killing of a policeman in the violence.

The actor also expressed concern over the well-being of his children, who he said have not been brought up as followers of any particular religion.

"I feel anxious for my children because tomorrow if a mob surrounds them and asks, 'Are you a Hindu or a Muslim?' they will have no answer. It worries me that I don't see the situation improving anytime soon," Shah had said in an interview on December 20.

He became the target of online trolls and right-wing groups, forcing him to backout from a three-day literature festival in Ajmer, which he was scheduled to inaugurate.
