New Delhi: Opening a new page in the I-innovate-you-copy online saga, Twitter has announced Twitter Stories. Available on stories.twitter.com the idea is quite similar to Facebook Stories and to some extent Google Search Stories.
The first series of Twitter stories include how "a single Tweet that helped save a bookstore from going out of business; an athlete who took a hundred of his followers out to a crab dinner; and, Japanese fishermen who use Twitter to sell their catch before returning to shore," Twitter said in an official blog post.
The idea, according to Twitter, is to remind "us of the humanity behind Tweets that make the world smaller." Twitter is encouraging users to help them uncover more interesting Twitter stories. Users can submit their story by mentioning @twitterstories or using the hashtag #twitterstories in their tweets and also include a video or image link.
Every month Twitter will curate a selection of new Twitter Stories. The first edition of Twitter Stories includes the first Tweet from space, though there is no mention of the #OccupyWallStreet hashtag that helped mobilise thousands of people around the world.
Twitter, which more than 100 million active users who use the service at least once a month, is still way behind Facebook's reach and the arrival of Google+ has added further fuel to the me-too fire.
