THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The state on Tuesday gave a fitting farewell with state honours to former minister M P Gangadharan, who passed away on Monday. Hundreds turned up to pay tributes to the Congress leader on Tuesday evening at Indira Bhavan, the head quarters of Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee (KPCC) at Sasthamangalam, when his body was brought here.A long list of political leaders, including ministers, legislators and parliamentarians had turned up to pay their last respects to the departed leader.His body was brought to Indira Bhavan from his residence, ‘Shelter’ at PTP Nagar around 5.05 p m, where it was kept for about half an hour for the public to pay homage.The dignitaries who paid tributes include, Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, ministers P K Kunhalikutty, K Babu, Aryadan Mohammed, V S Sivakumar, Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan, P K Jayalakshmi, V K Ebrahimkunju, K C Venugopal, Speaker G Karthikeyan, Deputy Speaker N Sakthan, Dominic Presentation, P Sreeramakrishnan, MPs P T Thomas and K Sudhakaran, UDF convener P P Thankachan, Thiruvananthapuram Mayor K Chandrika and former minister M Vijayakumar.At 5.25 p m, Gangadharan’s body was taken to Santhikavadam crematorium. The funeral procession reached the crematorium around 5.45 p m. The body was cremated at 6 p m with the official guard of honour by the state police.
