The ongoing row in Andhra Pradesh demanding a separate Telangana caused delays in trains to and from Hyderabad, which is epicentre of the protests. By Monday evening, one train had been cancelled and another had been delayed. Both were headed for Hyderabad. Hyderabad Express, scheduled to leave at 4.45 pm, was cancelled. The departure of Charminar Express, scheduled to leave at 6.10 pm, was postponed to 1 am on Tuesday.
Officials at the Chennai Central Railway Station told Express that the situation would be reviewed late in the evening and a decision could be expected on whether there would be a need to cancel or delay more trains.
