Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa on Thursday inaugurated a state-of-the-art building to house key wings of the Tamil Nadu Public Service Commission (TNPSC) in the city.
Constructed at a cost of Rs 19.86 crore at Fraser Bridge Road near the Broadway Bus Terminus, the six-storey building has come up on an area of 1.25 lakh square feet. The Chief Minister also went around the photo exhibits and visited the examination centre and conference hall situated on the sixth floor of the building.
According to R Nataraj, Chairman, TNPSC, the ground floor would house the grievances and counselling cell. “While the second floor would have the application processing department, the third and fourth floors comprises of the examination-related strong room. The fifth floor will have various sections of the staff,” he added.
The sixth floor, he said, would have a video conferencing facility.
“The floor also has an examination centre with a capacity to accommodate 200 candidates. Moreover, CCTVs would be installed on selected floors,” he said.
On VAO exams, Nataraj told reporters that webcasting would be done in 155 centres, which were identified as sensitive for the upcoming Village Administrative Officer (VAO) exams on September 30.
“Apart from the centres in district headquarters, webcasting would be done in these 155 exam centres. All 3,473 sub-centres would be videographed,” he said.
