MADURAI: An young man who reportedly married more than three women was arrested along with his mother in the wake of the complaint by a girl who was taken for a ride by him here on Wednesday.M Chinnaraja (26), of Kuntharapalli in Namakkal district, and his mother, M Saroja, allegedly lured innocent girls into marriage and usurped their belongings. M Muneeswari (19) of Virudhunagar district filed a complaint at the Mathichiyam police station in Madurai on Tuesday of falling for his bait. In her complaint, she alleged that Chinnaraja had taken at least three girls for a ride by claiming that he was a doctor or engineer or auditor and married them to usurp their property. Unaware of his modus operandi, Muneeswari fell in love with him. Her complaint also said on June 11, she had been abducted by Chinnaraja and Saroja. All the three of them spent a few days in Kodaikanal and then arrived at Shenoy Nagar in Madurai. Based on her complaint, th police arrested Chinnaraja and his mother. Investigations revealed that he had married three girls earlier and had deserted them later. Saroja was a conspirator in committing the crime. Both of them were produced in the court and remanded in custody.
