Jharkhand is set to unveil three projects, including a foodcraft institute in the temple town of Deogarh, to attract tourists to the state. A luxury hotel and a foodcraft institute in the temple town of Deoghar and a rural development project in East Singhbhum district would boost the tourism sector in the state, Sidharth Tripathy, Director, Tourism told PTI.
The projects bas been cleared by the Planning Commission. The building construction for the proposed National Foodcraft Institute was expected to be ready by December, Tripathy said.
To be developed at an estimated cost of Rs 12 crore, the institute would provide diploma courses in the hospitality sector to cater to the huge demand in the sector.
The Planning Commission has also approved a luxury hotel in Deoghar, which attract lakhs of tourists every year particularly in the month of 'Shravan', he said.
The department has been developing Bhelwara village in Hazaribagh district to promote rural tourism and the project was expected to be completed by December, Tripathy said.
The tourism director said the purpose of the project, located about 66 km from Jamshedpur, was to preserve the culture and environment as well as to promote rural tourism in the state.
Such a rural tourism project has been inaugurated on September 27 at Amadubi in East Singhbhum district, Tripathy said, adding the department has taken various initiatives to promote tourism in the state.
However, it was being alleged that despite being full of natural beauty, the tourism sector was badly affected due to the pathetic road condition and non-formulation of a state tourism policy. There was no doubt the state has vast potential to attract tourists but it failed due to poor condition of National Highways, said Prabhakar Singh, who is the head of Tourism committee of Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Jharkhand chapter.
