Three held for illegal currency transaction

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Three persons were arrested by Valiyathura police for indulging in illegal foreign currency transaction on the international airport premises here on Tuesday. The arrested have been identified as Navas, 45, Sherif, 47 and Xaviour, 49, all hailing from Valiyathura.According to the police, the trio had been engaged in illegal currency transaction business.“They used to take foreign currency and pay equivalent amount of Indian currency to the passengers coming from abroad. They used to pay higher amount than the bank rate,” the police said. They were remanded in police custody.
