New Delhi: There are many sportsmen and women who are unlikely to ever make the newspaper headlines but who still achieved plenty in some of the more eccentric sporting exploits of 2007.
The year saw some serious action in many sports and it also saw some funny action.
In January this year, Scottish locals got together to take part in the biannual 'Ba' game in which the townsfolk are divided into two teams, depending on their place of birth and everyone jostles for control of a cork filled leather ball which is the Ba - aiming to carry it to a goal at their end of town.
Maybe that's how the game football was invented.
And then it was over to the proud sporting nation of Australia in Queensland where celebrating Australia Day the traditional way meant cockroach racing.
Label the cockroaches and let them loose. This was making merry the Aussie way with a huge crowd and plenty to drink.
And while still in Australia, the town of Port Lincoln staged the 46th annual 'Tuna Tossing World Championship' that attracted some finely tuned athletes.
It was then over to freezing Lithuania where some locals took part in the crazy winter sport of toilet racing on a frozen lake.
The sport surely gave a new meaning to the phrase 'running to the toilet' and maybe this could be called 'running after the toilet'.
