The Sticker on Your Apples and Oranges Has Nothing to do With the Price. Here's What It Means
Seeing the stickers on the fruit, most people assume that it is of premium quality and is imported from outside India. However, that is not the case and these stickers have nothing to do with either export-import or the price of fruits, but it is directly related to our health

Healthy lifestyle, vegan diet and balanced nutrition is what people are running after these days. From influencers to homemakers, many social media users make videos and reels of healthy recipes. But what if we tell you that the fruits and veggies you are buying with stickers on are the most harmful?

Most consumers don’t know what the stickers truly mean. People are buying fruits, especially apples and oranges, that look fresh from the farm. But the pasted stickers on them might be meant to deceive us. It is seen in big cities like Delhi and Mumbai and even in districts of UP and Bihar that apples and oranges are sold with pasted stickers.

Seeing the stickers on the fruit, most people assume that it is of premium quality and is imported from outside India. However, that is not the case and these stickers have nothing to do with either export-import or the price of fruits, but it is directly related to our health.

Let’s break the myth of these sticker fruits.

Myth: Fruits with stickers are of the best quality

Reality: Sticker-pasted fruits are actually produced by using pesticides and harmful chemicals. The numbers written on these stickers also convey the quality of fruits. The pasted sticker means the fruits are sprayed with pesticides and harmful chemicals.

What do the numbers on the sticker mean?

While purchasing fruits, you can see that a five-digit number is written on the sticker of some fruits. If the number starts with 8, it means the fruits are genetically modified. These might cost more than the fruits grown using chemical and pesticides.

If the sticker number starts with 9, it means that these fruits have been grown organically without chemicals, pesticides and are not genetically modified fruit. The price of such fruits will be higher than the rest of the lower priced fruits which do more harm to our health. Consuming organically grown fruits that are of good quality is the best for our health.
