New Delhi: The Eye starring Jessica Alba is the latest horror remake of a successful Japanese film Jian Gui.
Directed by Xavier Palud and David Moreau it marks their second film after their 2006 European release Ils. And scripted by Sebastien Gutierrez of Snakes on the plane fame, this ghost flick is sure to have enough of those spine-chilling moments.
Jessica Alba plays Sydney Wells, a young blind violinist who gets a chance to see the world when she undergoes a corneal transplant. But seeing the world through her donor's eyes leaves her struggling to adjust to a whole new visual experience that is often terrifying.
The Eye also features Parker Posey and Alessandro Nivola in supporting roles as Sydney's sister and doctor.
Haunted by disturbing images of dead people and ghosts, Sydney is on the verge of losing her sanity. But repeated supernatural encounters make her even more determined to discover her transplant donor's identity.
Jessica says, "This is a classic ghost story, a very complex story and character. She is quite intelligent and self sufficient and even when she is going insane and questioning her sanity she doesn't lose herself."
However the films lead star not only believes in the paranormal but also has her own spooky tales to share.
"Things have happened in my life that I really couldn't explain and neither could anyone else. My parents had a house that in the middle of the night the faucets would turn on throughout the house, and the television would turn on and go up to max volume, the doors would just open up on their own. It happened several times," Jessica adds.
Looking forward to the birth of her child with boyfriend Cash warren, Jessica is taking a breather from acting but only to return as a producer.
Jessica says, "I've worked for about two years and this is kind of my break time. I am going to take some time and just kind of figure out what I am going to do next. I would like to produce something so that is kind of my next move."
The Eye is due to hit UK theaters on April 25.
