KOCHI: Shawn’s mother looked expectantly on stage as her four-and-a-half year old son performed his first-ever action song in front of the hundreds who had gathered at the Inter- nursery Kids Fest at the Rama Varma Club on Saturday.The fest was a golden opportunity for most tiny tots who were similarly first timers on stage.Actors Poornima Indrajith and Mithra Kurien inaugurated the function which was held in association with the Rotary Club of Cochin Down Town and The New Indian Express. At least 90 schools with 1,500 students participated at the function held for children below six. Cheers rose high as children danced to the tune of the ever popular ‘ek do teen..’ and the like. Competitions such as single action songs, group action songs, story telling, speech, solo dance, group dance competitions, painting competitions, general knowledge tests and Baby King and Queen programmes were held.There were at least 25 stalls showcasing home furnishings, automobiles, holiday spots, life insurance scheme companies, kitchen appliances, a kids play centre, ayurvedic massage, silicon items, branded handbags, IT products and textiles.People from all walks of life including professionals and housewives attended the function with their children.
