CHENNAI: Thangavelu Engineering College held its 13th Graduates Day in the college auditorium on May 20, 2012. Jayanthi Thangabalu, chairperson, Thangavelu Group of Colleges, lighted the kuthuvilakku to inaugurate the Graduates Day and delivered the presidential address, in which she encouraged the graduates to pursue higher education to become entrepreneurs and congratulated the graduating class of whom 90 per cent have been placed in reputed companies. Karthik Thangabalu, secretary, welcomed the gathering.Chief guest K V Thangkabalu delivered the Graduates Day address and awarded degrees to the graduates. Twenty four rank holders were given medals and 485 graduates from Thangavelu Engineering College received their degrees. In his address Thangkabalu talked about the development of technical education in the past few decades and said Tamil Nadu was second after Andhra Pradesh in the number of engineering colleges. Dr Durai Arulneyam, Principal, Thangavelu Engineering College administered the Graduates Day pledge and proposed the vote of thanks.
