HYDERABAD: Telangana Congress MPs want Rajya Sabha member K Keshava Rao re-nominated to the Upper House of Parliament since he has championed the cause of Telagnana.Their contention is that his renomination by the party high command will send a signal to people of the region that the party is not against Telangana. Though there is a keen contest for the four seats that the Congress could win of the six that are falling vacant, the Congress MPs believe that the party would favour Rao since it cannot afford him to be outside any position for he is capable of causing embarrassment to the party.Already, the TRS is contemplating to field him as an independent if the Congress decides to ignore him. Though the pink panthers do not have enough numbers to get him elected, at least it will cause enough discomfiture to the ruling party. The MPs made their point clear to chief minister N Kiran Kuamr Reddy when they met him on Sunday but Kiran did not give any assurance but advised them to persuade the party’s central leadership since it is handling the issue directly.
