Hyderabad: The Telangana government is not addressing drought conditions, state BJP president and MLA G Kishan Reddy said on Wednesday. "Some ministers are holding meetings on 'Mission Kakatiya' (restoration of tanks) programme, others on the water grid. But no one is talking about drought," he said.
No reports have been submitted to the Centre on the drought situation, he said. The government should take steps like declaring drought-hit mandals, providing drinking water and fodder as well as ensuring power supply, he said.
Slamming the reported proposal to hike power tariff, he said that the Telangana state government should reconsider it, if a hike in power tariff is being contemplated. Alleging that the state government lacked clarity on the students' tuition fees reimbursement scheme, he said that all eligible students should be given the facility.
Referring to the BJP's defeat in the Delhi assembly elections, Reddy said that the party's vote percentage has not come down. He said that AAP had announced populist measures like providing free drinking water and reducing power tariff but BJP was focused on long term measures and increasing purchasing power of the people.
Hitting out at the Congress, he claimed that the party had transferred its vote bank to the AAP. "We called for Congress-free Bharat, but Congress is implementing it. It supported AAP," he said. He said that BJP would like to increase its support base by reaching out to different sections since opposition parties are uniting against it.
