MYSORE: With the Shimogabased Kuvempu University declining the government order transferring Prof Shivabasavaiah to it, the tainted professor approached Mysore University for a posting. It is said that the Kuvempu University could not accommodate Prof Shivabasavaiah as he was not transferred against the post and there is no work load in the department. The government while transferring Prof Shivabasavaiah did not seek any details or clarification from Kuvempu varsity. However, the order was signed by Governor H R Bhardwaj. The UoM that had revoked his suspension and deputed him as director of University of Mysore printing press, relieved him in a hurry based on a government order sent through fax. However, the recent development at Kuvempu University has put the UoM and Prof Shivabasavaiah in an awkward situation as he has again approached UoM for posting. The teachers on the condition of anonymity expressed displeasure over the government and the varsity for acting in haste. Clarifying that they are not against any action taken against the professor if he is proven guilty, they felt that the government and UoM finalised the transfer of the varsity teacher without the consent of other universities.UoM Vice-Chancellor Prof V G Talwar said that he transferred the professor as per the directions of the government. He quoted the Kuvempu University as stating that it 'accepted' the chancellor’s order but sought a few clarifications. He said that it can act only based on the government directions.KUVEMPU VARSITY CLOSES DOORS ON PROFESSORSHIMOGA: The Kuvempu University syndicate on Friday decided not to accept the transfer of UoM Prof Shivabasavaiah, who is facing sexual harassment charges, to the university. The syndicate decided not to accept the transfer order of the tainted professor. It may be recalled that Shivabasavaiah was relieved from University of Mysore on November 8 even before completing the departmental inquiry against him on sexual harassment on a research student. However, the Women Harassment Complaint Enquiry Committee indicted Shivabasavaiah and the University of Mysore has suspended the professor and later the suspension was revoked.Sources said that the order mentions that the professor has been transferred till the “next order” that means there is no clarity whether it is the transfer of the post or just deputation.
