HYDERABAD: 'However big or influential the person may be, he should be put to trial as per the law if CBI investigation finds his role in irregularities. However, the government is sympathetic towards the problems being faced by IAS officers due to CBl inquiry,' finance minister Anam Ramanarayana Reddy has said.On the criticism that only officials were facing trouble from the CBI and elected representatives and ministers were spared and going scot free with regard to different scams, Ramanarayana Reddy said that if ministers and elected representatives were summoned by the CBI for investigation into the scams, they are ready to appear before the CBI.Speaking to newsmen at the Secretariat here on Saturday, the finance minister maintained that those found suspect by the CBI must come out clean after proving their innocence. He said it was unfortunate to find such a situation in which several civil servants were subjected to CBI interrogation.'I find this peculiar situation for the first time in my career,' he said.In an indirect attack against Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the minister pointed out that those politicians who looted public funds and stashed them in foreign banks were now doing yatras. And some of the civil servants were being victimised for the sins of the political bosses, he said.Referring to the hunger strike of the junior doctors, which entered 11th day on Saturday, the minister appealed to them to call off their agitation in the interest of poor patients who were subjected to several hardships. As per the agreement reached between junior doctors and the state government in 2009, the government has agreed to increase their monthly stipend up to 15 percent every two years but the junior doctors were demanding more which was unjustified, he said.In other states, the junior doctors have to do compulsory rural service for a minimum of 3 to 4 years but in Andhra Pradesh it is just one year.Even this is being objected to by the junior doctors which is unfortunate, the minister said.
