NIMAPARA: Even as five days have passed since the Nimapara IIC Bimal Nayak managed to flee after being allegedly caught taking bribe, the cops are yet to trace him.Vigilance sleuths had caught Nayak on Friday while accepting a bribe of Rs 5,000 from Sanjaya Mohapatra of Dhamantira village for registering a case. Following the incident, the accused telephoned some miscreants who rushed to the police station and assaulted some of sleuths and in the melee that ensued, Nayak managed to escape.Later, the DSP Vigilance, Bhubaneswar division, Mayadhar Swain, registered cases against 18 persons at the Nimapara police station. Of the 18 accused, one Puspa Ranjan Mohanty was arrested on Monday. Three squads had been formed by Puri SP Amitendranath Sinha to arrest the remaining culprits. The three squads are being headed by Sadar SDPO Niranjan Patra.
