HUBLI: Stage is set for the two-day state BJP executive, which begins at Gokul Garden here on Friday. The local BJP unit has made elaborate arrangements for the event held after a gap of 12 years.
The entire Gokul Garden and the Gokul Road has worn a saffron look with the BJP flags, cutouts and banners installed to welcome the guests coming from across the state besides the national leaders. The VIP movement on the road for the next two days is likely irritate the regular commuters.BJP national general secretary and Karnataka incharge Dharmendra Pradhan, general secretary HN Anantkumar, Chief Minister BS Yeddyurappa, state BJP president KS Eshwarappa and top officebearers of the party will camp in Hubli and participate in deliberations on both the days. Party's district unit heads, secretaries and top officebearers of other wings of the party will also take part.

Making the party organisation stronger and enhancing the base where it is weak in some parts of the state likely to be discussed in the meet. As the party in power in the state at present, the leadership is expected to collect opinions and suggestions on widening the base so as to make it ready to face the next elections.

"The meeting would certainly discuss the recent political development in the state and ways to counter the slander campaign of the opposition parties. Stress would be more on image building exercise along with understanding lacunae in party affairs and taking remedial measures," Shettar said. He expressed satisfaction over the preparations made by the district unit for the meet.

Though the executive is purely a party affair, presence of VIPs will put the police on high alert. DCP (law and order) NS Pratapan told Express that security would be given to Chief Minister, other Ministers and national leaders at wherever they stay as per the protocol. But, he said, no additional police force would be deployed.
