Solar panel cost needs to be reduced

MADURAI: Solar energy needs to be produced at cheaper rate. For this photovoltaic cells (solar panels) need to be produced at cheaper rate, said Union Minister V Narayanasamy here on Saturday.Speaking at an international conference and workshop on renewable energy and climate change, Narayanasamy said that the demand for energy in India was 1.85 lakh mw and only 1.40 lakh mw was being produced. It was not even 75 pc of the country’s requirement. “We cannot depend upon one source of energy. So, we have to harness hydel power, nuclear, solar  and wind energy” the minister said.
