A series of alarming incidents involving snake bites have caused widespread fear in Dagariya village, located in the Manchi police station area of Karauli district, Rajasthan. Just two days after a father and his four-year-old son tragically succumbed to snake bites, two more family members were bitten, along with another villager.
The shocking events began when Nagendra, 37, and his son were fatally bitten, prompting deep distress in their family. In a fresh incident on Wednesday, Nagendra’s brother, Babu Singh, and his son Deependra were both bitten by a snake that unexpectedly entered Babu’s shirt. In the chaos, Deependra also suffered a bite while attempting to chase the snake away.
Villagers report that a 2.5-foot-long snake has been entering homes, leading to increased caution and efforts to capture it. In addition to the family members, a woman named Ankita from the village has also been hospitalised following a snake bite.
Babu Singh described the frightening encounter, explaining how he was startled when the snake slithered into his clothing. All victims were swiftly taken to the hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Medical professionals have reported that, thanks to timely care, their conditions are stable.
The incidents have left the community in fear, with many villagers taking precautions and remaining on high alert as they try to catch the snake responsible for the recent attacks.
A similar series of incidents took place earlier this year when a resident of Uttar Pradesh’s Fatehpur district, Vikas Dubey, claimed to have been entangled in an unusual series of multiple snake bites. Dubey claimed to have been bitten by a snake several times, with a peculiar belief surrounding the ninth bite potentially being fatal. He alleged that a snake appeared in his dream, foretelling survival after eight bites but indicating impending death upon a ninth.
