Lahore: At least seven persons, including a 20-year-old bride and three children, were buried alive when roof of a marriage hall caved-in in Pakistan. The marriage function at Faizan Marriage Hall was underway in densely populated area of Shahdbagh when the roof of the main hall collapsed.

Bride Shumiala, groom Sajid and 30 others were trapped under the rubble. "We managed to rescue over 20 people trapped in the rubble and shifted them to hospital," rescue official Jam Sajjad said.

"However the bride, three children and three others died in the incident," Sajjad said. He said the marriage hall was recently constructed and last night's rain apparently caused its collapse. The police said it had taken the owner of the hall and four others into custody alleging that substandard material had been used in the construction.

An inquiry has been ordered into the incident by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
