New Delhi: There is something rather mysterious about Selvaraghavan's films. His gutsy scripts, crisp narratives, and his casting altogether place them within a very particular but thrilling seam of dark Tamil romanticism.
For Selva, his films are not just a script, they are an experience. Says he, "I don't do films for others. I do what I feel like and I know, sometimes, it's not appreciated by many. They consider it to be a dark and eerie script. But I think I have the guts to bring such dark scripts into the limelight."
After giving a fantasy-adventure like 'Ayirathil Oruvan', Selva is all set to release his romantic-thriller, 'Mayakkam Enna', starring his brother Dhanush and Richa Gangopadhyay. However, the director is not ready to reveal the story of the film.
He assures that every one who watches the film will feel refreshed.
Selva is known for introducing new faces in the industry. This time the casting was taken care of by his wife Geethanjali and three new faces make their debut with the movie. "It's my wife who has brought in Richa, Sunder and Mathivanan, who are playing pivotal roles in this film. They are a bunch of young talents and acting wasn't new to them, as most of them have been in theatre," he says.
For the first time, the director has sung in 'Mayakkam Enna'. The track that begins with the lyrics 'Kadhal en kadhal...' was written in just seven minutes by Dhanush, while GV completed composing for the song in just 11 minutes.
Featuring voices of both Dhanush and Selva, the song has become a big hit among people. "'Kadhal en kadhal' is an accident. At first, I was not at all ready to sing. And when I did, I didn't expect that they would use it in the final version. But I promise everyone that I will never sing again," he smiles.
