According to PTI, there will be no further release of terrorists or political prisoners in Jammu and Kashmir, said state Home Secretary Suresh Kumar.

New Delhi: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will convey a stern message to Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Mufti Mohammed Sayeed through Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh to mend ways or else the national party will pull the plug on the state government, said sources.

According to PTI, there will be no further release of terrorists or political prisoners in Jammu and Kashmir, said state Home Secretary Suresh Kumar.

In Delhi, Singh met BJP president Amit Shah along with party's national general secretary Ram Madhav to review BJP's alliance with the People's Democratic Party (PDP) in the state in the wake of controversial decisions taken by the Chief Minister.

Emerging out of the meeting, Singh said there was no threat to the state government.

The sources said a strong message is to be given to Sayeed. "Our priority is not government. There will be no compromise either on national security or Common Minimum Programme (CMP). Ideology will not be sacrificed," the sources said.

They further said, "No one should think that we will bend to run the government. One should be ready for consequences if this happens next time."

The BJP faced flak from the opposition parties over the release of hardliner Masarat Alam on Saturday from jail despite the BJP's protest. Both Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Rajnath Singh had to make statements in the Parliament over the development.

The Prime Minister revealed that the Centre was kept in the dark over the decision. He said Alam was released without informing or consulting the Centre. Modi assured the Opposition that there is no compromise on the unity of the nation and the government will take necessary action soon.

A defensive government came out in full strength to firefight after the controversial decision by Sayeed to release Alam rocked Parliament on Monday.

While replying to the opposition charge, the Home Minister said he was not satisfied with the report he had received from the state department on the issue.

Opposition MPs were adamant on their demand of answer from Modi which led to brief adjournment of both the Houses.

Alam was the mastermind behind the 2010 protests in which hundreds of people lost their lives. He was later arrested on the orders of the then Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah.
