Robbers give sleepless nights to passengers

KURNOOL: In wake of robberies on trains crossing Nandyal in last two days, passengers are a worried lot. Miscreants stopped 2 trains on Thursday night and one on Friday and looted women passengers. Around 1 a.m. on Thursday night, Amaravati Express came to a screeching halt at Diguvametta near Nandyal after some passenger pulled the chain.Soon some robbers wielding knives robbed 20-tola gold jewellery from women passengers and left the train.Around 1.40 a.m on the same night, Prasanthi Express, going in the same route, was also stopped near Venkatapuram, on outskirts of Nandyal and thieves decamped with 15-tola ornaments.Around 1 a.m.on Friday night, the Nandyal-Panyam Yeshwantpur Express was also halted and 15- tola gold ornaments were stolen from passengers.
