KOCHI: Vox Populi, the annual inter-school cultural fest organised by Vidyodaya School, Thevakkal, August 6 was truly a gala for eyes and ears. Students revived the beauty of the evergreen poet of Malayalam literature, Changampuzha Krishna Pillai.Writer M K Sanu, who inaugurated the function said: “Great poets have immortal feelings and experiences of man. They stand next to God and their contributions to society stay alive and are timeless.”The campus reverberated with nostalgic tunes and words of the great poet. ‘Nrithalahari’ the signature event of Vox populi, a split- screen competition where the participants depicted the emotion of ‘love’ in all its delicate colours and moods.‘Yavanika’, the street play focused on the plight of the poor and the downtrodden; other socially relevant themes like child labour, atrocities against women, city development woes etc were all beautifully enacted by the young actors.The music competition ‘Ragopahaaram’ was a real tribute to the poet where one of his work was rendered with the support of eastern instruments.The painting competition ‘Madhura Chrithrangal’ brought to life ‘Vazhakkula’ and ‘Ramanan’, the great works of Changampuzha in different hues and shades. ‘Devageetham’, the poem recital was also held where works like ‘Jeevitham’ and ‘Takarnna Murali’, took the crowd to a bygone era.In ‘Ente chodhyam,’ the quiz conducted by Avinash Pai and Divij Santosh, the finalists vied for the top position. The last event, ‘Kaavyanarthaki’ had the entire crowd spellbound. Rajagiri Public School won the overall trophy and Vishwa Jyothi Public School was declared the runners up. A cultural potpourri, Vox Populi was the perfect concoction of theatre, dance, music and art.
