HYDERABAD: Film director Ram Gopal Varma is in news again. This time, the director made allegations against Kadapa MP YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, currently lodged in the Chanchalguda Central Prison. Varma alleged that a close aide of Jagan Mohan Reddy had issued threats to him when he was making Raktha Charitra-II, a film based on faction rivalry in Rayalaseema and murder of MLA Paritala Ravi.The matter was first disclosed by MP Lagadapati Rajgopal during a press meet in Srikakulam town on Thursday. He alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy had threatened Varma against portraying his character in the film.“Varma told me during the launch of his book, `Naa Ishtam’, that Jagan Mohan Reddy was involved in threatening him not to make scenes based on him (Jagan) in the film. Jagan also threatened him when both were boarding a flight from Hyderabad to Delhi,” Rajagopal said. “Soon after he threatened me, I sent an SMS stating that everyone is successful during some period in their life (every dog has its day),” the MP said quoting Varma.Soon after the disclosure by Rajagopal, Ramgopal Varma confirmed that he indeed had received threatening calls from a close aide of Jagan Mohan Reddy when he was making Raktha Charitra-II.Varma sent an SMS to various media houses stating, “I was forced to remove a lot of scenes from Raktha Charitra-II and this threat of Jagan was conveyed by a man who was very close to Jagan Mohan Reddy.”All scenes shot for the film based on the character of a young leader in Rayalaseema and his attitude were removed from the film after receiving threats from Jagan’s close aide, Varma said.Meanwhile, reacting to the allegations, actress-turned-politician Roja asked why Rajagopal was disclosing now something that he claimed to have happened long time back. Alleging that it was a mud-slinging exercise, she said it was taken up after a poll survey indicated that the YSRC sweep the byelections.
