Reinvestigate attack on party office, says BJP

CHENNAI: A delegation of BJP functionaries of the State unit met the Commissioner of Police on Friday and submitted a petition seeking a re-probe into the alleged attack by DMK workers on their party office in 2007.The petition recalled that subsequent to the Supreme Court order in September 2007, directing the Centre to review the Sethusamudram project, former Chief Minister M Karunanidhi commented on Rama’s engineering skills at a public meeting at Erode. Then, Hindu leader Ram Vilas Vedanthi offered gold as reward for those who cut off the tongue and head of those who besmirched Rama’s name.Following the announcement, South Chennai DMK Secretary Anbazhagan said he would hold a protest in front of the BJP headquarters On September 23, around 7 am, a large number of DMK worker entered the BJP office and ransacked the rooms. Though adequate evidence was submitted, the chargesheet did not include the names of the main involved. Submitting the plea to CoP J K Tripathy, BJP functionaries demanded that the names of Arcot Veerasamy, Parithi Ilamvazhuthi, and Mayor M Subramaniam be included and a re-probe be conducted.
