The characters played by Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn in 'Rascals' are called Chetan and Bhagat respectively.

New Delhi: Call it a curious coincidence or an intentional publicity coup, but filmmaker David Dhawan's 'Rascals' is being released a day ahead of author Chetan Bhagat's much publicized launch of book 'Revolution 2020'.

Here's the twist in the plot. The characters played by Sanjay Dutt and Ajay Devgn in 'Rascals' are called Chetan and Bhagat respectively.

Ever since the promo for Rascals is out, the naming of Dutt and Devgn's characters has been the subject of much amusement. If author Bhagat has taken offense, he's not admitting it.

Even the author himself tweeted, tongue firmly in cheek, "Saw the start of the new Rascals promo. I am speechless. Mr David Dhawan, I also have a pen. Yaad rakhna ;). The good thing is, takes two stars to handle my name. I could live with that ;)."

'Rascals' is out on Thursday, October 6 while Bhagat will launch his book on October 7 in Mumbai.

Revolution 2020 is the story about childhood friends Gopal, Raghav and Aarti who struggle to find success and love in Varanasi. Gopal gives in to a corrupt system and Raghav fights it.

Bhagat is the bestselling author of 'Five Point Someone', One night @ the call center, The Three Mistakes of My Life and 2 States.

The star cast of 'Rascals' also includes Kangna Ranaut, Arjun Rampal, Chunky Pandey and Lisa Haydon. The older actors intend to pack a punch with Dhawan’s straightforward storytelling, stand-up comedy and great chemistry.

Dutt is on a roll this years with a cameo in Shah Rukh Khan's 'Ra.One', which will be followed by a reprisal of the role of antagonist Kancha Cheena’s role in 'Agneepath'.

Bhagat has already landed himself in a controversy ahead of his book release. Infosys chairman emeritus NR Narayana Murthy's statement that engineers coming out of the IITs are not of good quality has led to a war of words with IIT almunus Bhagat calling Infosys a body shop.

Bhagat says he has no regrets for calling Infosys is body shop and doesn't feel he should apologise to Narayana Murthy.

'Rascals' is produced by Sanjay Dutt, Sanjay Ahluwalia and Vinay Choksey.

This isn't the first time that the duo has shared screen space. They have starred in films like 'All The Best', 'Mehbooba' and 'Tango Charlie'. Dutt even did a voiceover for Ajay's 'Toonpur Ka Superrhero'. Moreover, they had worked with Dhawan earlier in 'Hum Kisi Se Kum Nahin'.

For someone who has worked in maximum number of films with the likes of Govinda, Salman Khan and Anil Kapoor in a career spanning over two decades, Dhawan promises his audience vintage stuff with 'Rascals'.
