Rape accused awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment in Biora

A person was awarded seven years rigorous imprisonment by a court in Biora town in the district for allegedly raping a woman.

The sentence along with a fine of Rs 3,000 was awarded on Thursday by First Additional Session Judge Ramesh Sahu against Ratan Singh of Borda village for raping a woman on September 4, 2012, public prosecutor OP Sharma told reporters.

He also threatened to kill her if she revealed the matter to anyone. After the woman complained, a case of rape was registered against the accused and later submitted for trial after which the court awarded the sentence.
