Thiruvananthapuram: Union Minister MM Pallam Raju on Sunday refused to comment on the age row of Army Chief Gen VK Singh saying the matter is sub-judice.
"No comments. The matter is before the Court and there is nothing else I can say for now," the Union Minister of State for Defence told reporters on the sidelines of a programme.
Raju was at the golden jubilee function of the Sainik School at Kazhakkoottam near.
In his speech, Raju said the government was planning to increase its annual assistance to sainik schools from Rs 56 crore to Rs 96 crore. Three more sainik schools would be set up in Andhra Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Odisha soon, he said.
Raju said there was huge gap between scholarships provided by the Centre and state governments to students in sainik schools. The states were bearing only one-third of the expenditure on this count and the Ministry would take up the issue with states, he said.
Chief Minister Oommen Chandy, who was the chief guest at the celebration, said the Kerala government would consider the request for increasing student scholarships.
