Rajput faces BCCI's ire over Bhajji-Sree slapgate
Shameful that Rajput laughed when Bhajji slapped Sree, says BCCI.

New Delhi: After Harbhajan Singh, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is after the Mumbai Indians coach Lalchand Rajput.

The BCCI says it was shameful that Rajput was laughing when Harbhajan slapped S Sreesanth after the Indian Premier League (IPL) match between Kings XI Punjab and the Mumbai Indians on April 25.

Sources in the BCCI have told CNN-IBN that the video evidence prove that Rajput was seen laughing when Harbhajan slapped Sreesanth.

This has not gone down well with some sections in the BCCI as they think that Rajput is holding a senior position and should have acted more responsibly. They want some action to be taken against him as well.

Meanwhile, it seems that the BCCI is unhappy with advocate Sudhir Nanavati as well, who is the commissioner in the Harbhajan-Sreesanth slapping case hearing.

According to the BCCI, Nanavati shouldn't have spoken so openly to the media about the case, when the inquiry is still in process.

Nanavati, who was in Mumbai to collect the video evidence and meet more officials related to the slapgate incident, had said that he was shocked after watching the video footage of Harbhajan slapping Sreesanth after the IPL match between Kings XI Punjab and the Mumbai Indians.

"What I saw was shocking but it has made my job easier. It will also help me in my further investigation," the Ahmedabad lawyer had said after seeing the video.

He further added, "A player who has a BCCI contract, is getting the match fee for the whole year and also getting paid for the IPL for a particular period in the year. So, if he is getting paid by both the IPL and the BCCI, then he should also be punished by the both."

Nanavati is expected to submit his report on Monday to the BCCI Disciplinary Committee.
