The government on Thursday called a high-level meeting to discuss repeated ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) by Pakistan.
The meeting was attended by Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, Defence Minister Manohar Parrikar and Minister for External Affairs Sushma Swaraj, and other senior officials.
Meanwhile, Director General BSF met National Security Advisor Ajit Doval to apprise him of the situation.
This came even as India's High Commissioner to Pakistan lodged a strong protest with the country over ceasefire violations.
Earlier on Thursday, Pakistan troops violated ceasefire once again, injuring four people in RS Pura sector of Jammu and Kashmir. Pakistan also targeted five BSF posts, and the firing lasted for about an hour and a half.
On Wednesday, one woman was killed and six others, including two BSF jawans, were injured in a ceasefire violation in Akhnoor.
The neighbouring country has violated ceasefire nine times in a month.
