BANGALORE: Rain havoc continued on Saturday in the city, spoiling the weekend fun. The showers left the drains overflowing and filled the roads with water. Tree falls and frequent power cuts were reported from across the city. The city recorded a rainfall of 41.2 mm on Saturday, the weatherman said.The rain wreaked havoc uprooting two huge trees on the main road connecting Maradi Subbaiah Road and Srinagar disrupting the normal flow of traffic. Satish, a resident of Hanumanthanagar, said that a tree had blocked the road and it was cleared only when BBMP staffers came.Most of the complaints of water-logging and flooding were reported from low-lying areas in Magadi Road, RPC Layout, Ejipura, Wilson Garden and Chamarajpet.Traffic police had a tough time trying to control the flow of vehicles on all water-logged roads. At Okalipuram Junction, traffic police were seen clearing the water logged road along with the BBMP staffers. Mayor D Venkatesh Murthy and his deputy L Srinivas were on city rounds to monitor rain-related problems and recommended the suspension of three engineers who were absent for control room duty. BMTC buses were seen stranded at Kempegowda bus stand.
