Rafeeqs arrest an eyewash: Govindan

KOCHI: Vazhappadachi Rafeeq, who surrendered before the police team probing the T P Chandrasekharan murder, is an NDF activist and his arrest was just an eyewash, alleged CPM Ernakulam district secretary M V Govindan.Addressing media here on Thursday, he said that attempts are on to cover up certain aspects of the issue owing to its NDF links.Asked about the statement by CPM Idukki district secretary M M Mani on murderous politics, Govindan said if verified minutely, there are certain facts in what Mani said. M M Hassan has also said similar things. But that did not become news. Now, there are attempts to exaggerate certain portions of Mani’s speech, M V Govindan alleged.He said it was the CPM state secretariat consisting of Opposition Leader V S Achuthanandan, that termed the probe into T P Chandrasekharan murder, a political conspiracy.Therefore it is the opinion of Achuthanandan too, he said. Govindan further alleged that the government machinery is being used to attack the CPM. There is a conspiracy against the party, he said.
